Ethan Wilson
PhD Student in Computer Science
Hi, I'm Ethan Wilson. I am currently a PhD student at the University of Florida under the advisement of Dr. Eakta Jain. My work focuses on user privacy across various media. I have experience in eye tracking, virtual reality, and building deep learning models to generate privatized faces.

I have a bachelor's degree in computational media from Georgia Tech, where I focused on media and game design.
Research Interests
My research focuses largely on privatizing various forms of media. I have explored face swapping extensively as a means to provide facial privacy while retaining facial semantics (expressions, gaze directions) to a much higher degree than traditional means. I have developed algorithms to improve the ability to retain facial semantics, as well as conducted studies to analyze any uncanny valley effects that arise when face swaps go awry.

I have more recently begun to explore privacy in virtual reality applications. I have assessed the feasibility of using adaptive privacy bubbles to maintain personal space in multi-user VR. I am currently investigating ways to privatize the streamed motion data that is recorded in VR headsets to prevent malicious entities from re-identifying users.
